Cambridge Aero Pocket-PC Mounting Systems

A properly mounted Pocket-PC contributes to both safety and enjoyment of soaring flights.  We have re-designed our pocket-PC mounting system to accommodate the Compaq iPAQ and future PDAs. The system shares the following characteristics: Modular, 4-wire telephone cable is used for power & data communication between the Pocket-PC and the 302 or GPS-NAV. The 4-wire cable is terminated with RJ-11 telephone-type and DB-9 connectors. A 4-position screw-type euro connector block is included, so you can put the cable inside the gooseneck. The physical interface between a mount and the supporting structure articulated arm or gooseneck, is an 18 mm square grid of holes for 3 x 0.5 mm screws. Cambridge-designed mounts for each brand of Pocket PC are interchangeable. This means you can upgrade from the Compaq 1550 to the iPAQ without modifying anything on the glider or its instrument panel.

You can buy individual parts of the system.  You can also save your money and our time by ordering a complete system to mount a particular Pocket-PC into your glider.   

1500 Series Pocket PC Mounting Bracket

This mount is for the Compaq 1500 series of PDAs. The cradle is designed to hold the PDA firmly in place using a spring loaded detent. Includes cable with RJ-11 plug.

57mm Adapter Plate

This adapter plate is designed to mount in a 57mm cutout and can be used with either the articulated swivel arm or the gooseneck arm.

Goosenecks

Goosenecks in a choice either ten, fifteen, or twenty centimeter lengths. Gooseneck comes with two end plates for mounting the PDA mount on one end and attachment to the glider at the other.

Connector and Cable from 302/GPS-NAV to 57mm mounting Plate

This cable connects the PDA mount to either the GPS-NAV or the 302. One end has a DB-9 serial data connector and the other the RJ-11 plug.

Complete System

Example of complete mounting system is shown. The system includes PocketPC mount of your choice, gooseneck or articulated arm, and serial data cable but not the 57 mm mounting plate. iPAQ NOT included!
